Whether you like yours the classic way or you want to spice it up, we’ve got the easiest and quickest way to make marinara for your weekly pizza and pasta nights! No more worrying about preservatives and that odd tin taste that you have to spend time cooking out!

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 8 large tomatoes (i used ones on the vine) roughly chopped
- 1 medium onion diced
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 8 fresh basil leaves torn or 1 tablespoon dried basil
- Half a sprig of fresh rosemary chopped or ½ teaspoon dried rosemary
- 1.5 teaspoons salt
- ¼ cup water (optional)
Instructions
- Turn on InstantPot to SAUTE mode
- Add oil and allow to heat for 2 minutes- the oil will thin out and disperse to the edges
- Add onion and stir well for 1 minute
- Add garlic and saute for 1 minute
- Add tomatoes, rosemary, basil and salt
- Add water- leave out water if you want your sauce to be thicker
- Mix all ingredients thoroughly
- Close InstantPot lid to lock it
- Turn vent on the lid to CLOSE VENT to prevent steam from escaping
- Press CANCEL/OFF button on InstantPot to turn off
- Set pot to MANUAL mode
- Set to HIGH PRESSURE
- Set timer to 7 minutes
- Once done allow the steam to release naturally (NPR) for 1-2 minutes minimum
- Now manually release the steam by opening the vent. The silver prong will drop back into the lid. BE CAREFUL OF THE HOT STEAM
- Open the lid
- Press CANCEL/OFF button on InstantPot to turn off
- Blend the sauce to your desired consistency using either a hand blender or a regular blender; you can leave the sauce chunky or blend it to be smooth
- Allow the sauce to cool before spooning it into the container of your choice
- If not using immediately, refrigerate or freeze

You can add crushed red pepper or cayenne to make the sauce spicy.
NO ONION/NO GARLIC VARIATION: You can remove the onion and garlic from the recipe and add 1 medium red bell pepper and continue with the other steps. Blend the gravy for a smooth consistency.
VEGAN VARIATION: This recipe is completely vegan!
