Ingredients
- Instant pot
- Mixing bowl
- 2 cups sprouted mixed lentils/beans
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder (hurder)
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander powder (dhana powder)
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin powder (jeeru powder)
- 1 teaspoon salt or to taste
- 1 teaspoon minced green chilies or to taste
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 8-10 whole black peppercorns
- 1 large cinnamon stick
- 1-2 whole dried red chillies
- 1 teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
- 1 tablespoon oil
- ¼ cup water
Instructions
- Turn on the Instant Pot to SAUTE mode
- Wait until the Instant Pot display reads “HOT”
- Add oil into the steel pot
- Add asafoetida, peppercorns, cinnamon, chillies
- Allow to heat for 1 minute until the spices become fragrant
- In the mixing bowl, combine sprouted lentils, ginger, garlic, green chillies, salt, turmeric, cumin and coriander powder
- Mix well to coat the lentils
- Press CANCEL on the Instant Pot
- Add the sprouted mixture into the pot
- Stir
- Add ¼ cup water
- Stir well to incorporate everything
- Close and lock the lid on the Instant Pot
- Turn the vent to sealing to prevent steam from escaping
- Press CANCEL on the Instant Pot
- Press MANUAL/PRESSURE COOK on the Instant Pot (HIGH pressure)
- Set timer to 15 minutes (If only using mung bean sprouts, use 5 mins)
- Once the timer goes off, allow the steam to naturally release for 10 mins (NR)
- After 10 minutes, release the remaining steam by opening the vent
- Press CANCEL on the Instant Pot
- Carefully open the lid
- Garnish with cilantro (optional)
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
Sprouted mung beans can be found at Indian and Asian stores.
